May 18, 2018
Huizhou City, China (April 2018)— Spectra Precision FOCUS 35 robotic total stations are hard at work helping build the world’s largest expressway network. In one notable example, the FOCUS 35, with its time-saving automatic scan template, is checking the cross-section quality of the twin Nan Kunshan tunnels for the new six-lane Shazhan S14 regional highway.
Mauritanian Power Transmission Infrastructure to be Surveyed with SP60 GNSS Receiver
January 26, 2018
The Spectra Precision SP60 GNSS receiver has been selected to perform survey work for construction of a new 450-kilometer electric power transmission corridor. Connecting Mauritania’s two largest cities, the capital Nouakchott and to the south Nouadhibou, the 225/90Kv transmission line parallels the Atlantic Ocean as it traverses the Sahara Desert.
Roman Ruins Modeling and Virtual Tour Aided with Spectra Precision SP60
November 06, 2017
Paphos, Cypress, (August 2017) - Students from AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland recently combined archaeology and geodesic disciplines to inventory monuments at Cypriot Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, an important UNESCO World Heritage site. Using advanced measuring equipment and spatial information systems, the students developed their survey skills using the SP60 while collecting data for the creation of spatial models and virtual tours of the famed site.
SP80 GNSS Receivers Increase Water Pipeline Survey Efficiency by 160 Percent
December 06, 2016
Athens, -- On the island of Euboea, Greece’s second largest island lying just off the coast of Athens, surveys for two legs of a new water pipeline were recently completed with remarkably different efficiencies. The difference, according to the lead survey engineer, Epameinondas Valtinos, was directly attributable to Spectra Precision’s highly efficient SP80 GNSS receiver.
Robotic Riverbed Survey Vessel Tracked with FOCUS 35 Total Station
November 30, 2016
Preston, Lancashire, UK (November 28, 2016). To increase interest and involvement of people in protecting and improving the Ribble River, the Ribble Rivers Trust recently commissioned a bathymetry survey of a notable section of the riverbed. A robotically controlled 1.2-meter twin-hull shallow draft vessel owered by a twin jet system was used to survey approximately a hectare of the river’s bed. Aboard the vessel was a depth recording sonar and a tracking prism that enabled a Spectra Precision FOCUS 35 total station to lock onto and robotically follow and record the location of the vessel.
FOCUS 35 Total Station Monitors Dam For Movement
May 23, 2016
Tarn, France (May 23rd, 2016) -- At the Rassisse dam on the Dadou River in southwest France, a Spectra Precision FOCUS 35 robotic total station has just completed monitoring the structural movements that occurred during recent major repairs and improvements to the dam. The FOCUS 35, with its one arc-second accuracy, was chosen to monitor to a half-millimeter accuracy movement of the arch dam abutments during a particularly critical six-week period in the construction project.
FOCUS 35 Shines in Nighttime Topographic Survey
March 11, 2016
Leicestershire, March 10, 2016 – When a topographic survey for the main runway of the East Midlands International Airport was performed during nighttime closure, the Spectra Precision FOCUS 35 robotic total station turned in a stellar performance. Through cold November windy and rainy nights, with no task lighting permitted, the FOCUS 35 total station performed efficiently and flawlessly tracking the prism to 200 meters and beyond to help keep the project on time.
Poland Chooses MobileMapper 300 to Spot-Check Compliance for EU Direct Pay Subsidies
March 10, 2016
Krakow, March 9, 2016. The agency responsible for the supervision and control of European Union agricultural subsidies in Poland, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA), has purchased 118 MobileMapper 300 smart antennas. The Spectra Precision MobileMapper 300 is a GPS/GLONASS/SBAS L1/L2 receiver specifically designed to be combined with a variety of mobile devices, including smart phones and tablets, running any third-party GIS application. When the MobileMapper 300 is synchronized with the mobile device, the device and the application running on it benefits from the position provided by the MobileMapper 300 with accuracies much greater than those from the internal GPS.

Kenya Land Survey Efforts Aided with Spectra Precision Equipment
June 08, 2015
Nairobi (June 8th, 2015) -- The Kenya Department of Surveys has acquired eight FOCUS 30 total stations and an additional eight EPOCH 50 GNSS receivers as part of an ongoing major effort to adjudicate land and prepare deeds. According to Lands Cabinet Secretary, Charity Ngilu, until recently 67 percent of Kenya had yet to be adjudicated even as the work was supposed to be completed within 20 years after it was commissioned in 1957 by the British colonial government. To rectify the problem the government of President Uhuru Kenyatta two years ago began a major new push to produce three million titles by 2017. Recently, it was announced by the Land Surveys Department that 800,000 title deeds had been prepared and are being distributed.
